As of January 2021, there were approximately 741,000 RVs registered in Australia (1), and the market is continuing to grow. Over the past 5 years from 2015, approximately 155,000 RVs have been added (1) – which equates to an average annual increase of 31,000. This is further expanding with the growth in 4wds being fitted out with rear cabins, roof-top tents and the like.
As a result of COVID19 and restrictions on international travel, consumers have had to revisit their holiday options, and as such RV user numbers are expected to increase significantly over the next 3-5 years.
Given its existing scale and unprecedented growth, the RV industry is one of the most popular lifestyle acquisitions.
The RV industry is still maturing in terms of its quality control and after-sales service. In many cases, RV owners are left to themselves as soon as the RV sale is made.
With social media and ready access to the internet, there is no shortage of information available. But relevance of information is the key and is sadly missing at present. Guidance is often sought from social media sites, where members may have the same brand of caravan (or not) yet have a different brand/model of component to the one you have. As such, their suggestions and guidance may be well intended but potentially hazardous - resulting in unnecessary wasted time, inconvenience, costs, damage, or in a worst-case scenario, injury or death.
Relevance is key…
